I have published low-content and medium-content books on Amazon KDP since March 2020. During this time, I made a few mistakes that slowed my earnings and dipped my book’s exposure, which helped me learn what it takes to succeed in self-publishing.

I also made one big mistake early on in my KDP journey that slowed my sales and progress for over a year.

In this piece, I want to share my experience and the lessons I learned so that you can avoid making the same mistake and set yourself on the right track.

Focusing On No-Content Notebooks

When I first started publishing on KDP, I followed the advice of many other publishers and began with low-content notebooks. These are notebooks with minimal content, such as dot grid pages or lined pages for journaling or sketching. They’re easy to create and require little time or effort to design.
