Image from Ideogram 1.0. Prompt used: A striking 3D render of a book cover, showcasing an elaborate cinematic scene. The cover features a mysterious, dark-cloaked figure standing in front of a majestic castle, with a full moon casting a silvery glow. The castle is surrounded by a lush, mysterious forest, and the overall ambiance of the scene is enchanting and slightly ominous., 3d render, cinematic.

In this piece, I’ll dive into the process of how I create book covers using Canva. I provide you with the dimensions to get started as well as some hacks that I use that have saved me time.

Step 1: Setting Up Your Design in Canva

Start by opening Canva and selecting “Create a Design.” Opt for the “Custom” option, where you’ll find three standard sizes for hardcover books. For this piece, I will focus on the dimensions of 22x9.5 inches, suitable for most standard-sized book covers.

Step 2: Selecting Your Image and Resizing

Now, it’s time to choose the image that will serve as the focal point of your book cover. Upload your desired image through Canva’s upload feature, and resize it to fit the dimensions of your book cover. Ensure that the image is centered and aligned.

Step 3: Creating a Seamless Design

To achieve a polished look, you can duplicate and flip the image horizontally. By strategically positioning these duplicates, you create a seamless visual across the entire cover. Canva’s intuitive platform simplifies this process.

Step 4: Designing the Spine
