L-Theanine for ADHD

L-theanine is a natural supplement suggested to potentially help alleviate symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). However, there is limited research on its effectiveness and safety.

L-theanine is an amino acid that is commonly found in green tea. It has been suggested to have relaxing and calming effects on the brain and may improve cognitive function and attention.

Some studies have indicated that L-theanine supplements may help reduce anxiety and improve focus in people with ADHD.

One of my favorite studies investigates how L-Theanine supplementation affects the sleep of boys with ADHD.

This study investigated the efficacy and safety of L-theanine, a dietary supplement, in improving sleep quality in boys aged 8–12 years with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The study involved a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 98 male children diagnosed with ADHD.

Participants were given either L-theanine (400 mg daily) or a placebo for six weeks, and their sleep quality was evaluated using wrist actigraphy and the Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ).
