We all know the feeling: we’ve been productive for hours, maybe even days, and suddenly we hit a wall. We can’t focus anymore, we’re exhausted, and everything feels like it’s taking twice as long as it should. This is what productivity experts call “toxic productivity,” and it’s a problem that can affect anyone from students to busy professionals.

Toxic productivity is when people produce more than they can handle, leading to burnout and stress. This can happen when you are overworked, given unrealistic deadlines, or given poor instructions.

Toxic productivity can be a significant problem for those working from home, especially those pursuing online side hustles. In this situation, when a side hustle is not working despite all the efforts and time you put in, it can make you feel stressed and overworked. This can lead to burnout and, ultimately, a decrease in productivity.
